A buyer's checklist for auto recycler software

reParta · Sep 17, 2024

You choose yard software rarely and live with it for years, which is exactly why the decision deserves a checklist instead of a demo-day gut feeling. Here is what to compare, in the order that matters.

1. Fit for your size and segment

Software built for 200-vehicle enterprises fits a 20-donor yard badly, and vice versa. Be honest about your stage - solo dismantler, small yard, growing crew - and weight tools that are built for it.

2. Fitment and interchange

This is core, not a feature. Ask: is fitment native? Does it list parts by interchange so they reach compatible vehicles? Where does the vehicle data come from? Weak fitment means weak reach and high returns no matter how nice the rest looks.

3. Channels and auto-delisting

  • Does it list to eBay and Facebook as first-class channels, not just one?
  • When a part sells on one channel, does it come off the others instantly?
  • Is the sync real-time, or batched?

This is where multichannel growth is either safe or dangerous.

4. Onboarding and migration

  • How long until you are actually running on it?
  • Do they migrate your data, or is that your problem?
  • Can you try it on real data before committing?

5. Pricing transparency

  • Is the price published, or do you have to “book a demo” to learn it?
  • What is bundled vs. an add-on?
  • How does the total compare to your current stack plus its hidden costs?

A vendor hiding the price is a small but real signal about the relationship.

6. Proof

  • Are there reviews on independent sites?
  • Will they connect you with a yard like yours?
  • Is there a demo or trial so you can see it on your own data?

The one-question version

If you only ask one thing, ask: “Show me, on real parts, how a sale on eBay removes the part from Facebook - and how long it takes.” The answer reveals more about whether the tool fits a modern multichannel yard than any feature list.

reParta is built for solo dismantlers and small yards, with native fitment, eBay and Facebook listing with real auto-delisting, published pricing, migration help, and a free trial on your own data.

Run any option you are considering through this checklist. The boring questions are the ones that predict whether you will still be happy in two years.
